Brussels Sprouts Seeds

Brussels sprouts are great to grow from seed. They are an interesting plant in the garden, starting with large green leaves to tall stems filled with compact brussels sprouts. Easy to sow and grow, this Christmas table essential will be ready to harvest for the festive season.

Sow Indoors
Sow seeds into pots of free draining soil and cover with a thin layer of gravel. Place tray into a heated propagator or clear bag in a warm sunny position. Germination should take around 7 days. Once seedlings start to appear, remove from the bag/propagator and grow on in cooler conditions. Once the risk of frost has passed, they can be placed outdoors after being hardened off by placing them outdoors during the day and bringing them back indoors at night. Repeat for 7-10 days.
Plants can be planted directly into the garden or into patio containers.

Sow Outdoors
Sow seeds outdoors once the soil has warmed. Seeds should be sown 2 cm deep and 30cm apart. Water well throughout the season, especially during hot periods.
Mulch around plants to prevent them from drying out and protect them from wildlife with garden netting
