Cactus Mexican Giant - Pachycereus Seeds

Cactus seeds can be grown indoors all year round and ate very easy to care for, requiring very little aftercare. Pachycereus Pringlei or Mexican Giant is perhaps the most iconic cactus often found in the desert. In the wild this variety can reach heights of 6 meters. A great addition to any display or the start of a collection.

Sow Indoors: January - December

Sow seeds into a tray of good quality free draining compost. Lightly cover with compost or a fine grit and place in a propagator or seal inside a clear bag. This will create humidity to help start germination. Place in a light warm location until seedlings start to emerge, the bag or lid can then be removed but seedlings must be kept warm and away from drafts. Germination can take 21-32 days. Keep the soil damp but not waterlogged.
Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, they can be transplanted into larger pots. Be very careful when transplanting cactus, spines can be sharp so it may be useful to use a small spoon and a set of tweezers to handle them.
Once replanted and established, cactus will require very little water. Check them once a week to make sure the soil is damp but not wet. Locate them on a warm sunny windowsill where they will thrive.
