Hardy Annual
This golden onion is a gardenerÕs favourite, easy to sow and grow, its undemanding and produces good sized round bulbs which store well.

Sow Outdoors: June - July
Harvest: July - August

Prepare the area a few weeks in advance by removing weeds and stones and incorporating some well-rotted garden compost to improve drainage and soi fertility.
Sow seeds thinly in 2cm deep drills 30 cm apart and water well. Germination 21 - 31 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin plants to 10cm apart. Onions are not a demanding plant, water occasionally and weed to prevent them having to compete for nutrients.
Harvest onions a week or two after they start to turn yellow. Choose a dry day to loosen them from the ground with a fork and leave them for a day or two to dry in the sun. Once dry, remove the top foliage and store them in a dry well-ventilated place.
